“You know exactly who it is you are. Don’t ever let anyone in this town tell you to change… You are on the correct path and you’re going to be a superstar.” These are the words late comedy legend, Buddy Hackett, used to describe Dat Phan. Dat Phan was born in Saigon, Vietnam and immigrated with his mother to San Diego. He suffered through financial hardships most of his childhood. After 9/11 he realized life was short and decided to go for his dream to pursue comedy full time. Moving to LA he had to live out of his car and even after being robbed at gunpoint he wouldn’t stop pursuing his dream. Dat took the risk and auditioned for NBC’s LAST COMIC STANDING. The rest is history as he was named the funniest person in America on August 5 2003.. His youthful energy and truly unique life experiences combine to create a stand-up performance you will not soon forget. His message of living your dreams and reaching out for the stars is inspiring to all audiences.
With his own Comedy Central Special Dat’s comedy has been featured at colleges and the top comedy clubs across the US including the World Famous Improv (Hollywood, Brea, Ontario, Irvine), The Comedy Store (Hollywood, La Jolla), The Ice House and the Laugh Factory. Most recently Dat has been catapulted into the limelight as one of the stars and the winner of NBC’s Last Comic Standing. With appearances on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, The Late Show with Craig Kilborn, BET’s Comic View he was also featured in the film Cellular and is a series regular role on Nickelodeon’s Danny Phantom.
